The Shure Beta 98H/C is a high-quality, permanently polarized condenser microphone with cardioid polar pattern, which can be attached to the bell of wind instruments or to the hoops of drums or other percussion instruments. The integrated gooseneck and the ratcheting swivel joint allows for easy placement and securing of the microphone. An isolating shock mount reduces the transmission of noise from wind instrument keys, as well as from other instrument noises. The supplied gooseneck angle brace keeps the microphone in the desired position, even during heavy movements. Also available for use with wireless systems under the model name WB98H/C.
The Beta 98H/C operates with a transformerless preamplifier circuit for better linearity over the entire frequency range, while the cardioid polar pattern provides high gain before feedback and excellent suppression of unwanted background noise. The high maximum sound pressure level makes it possible to meet the extreme requirements of brass, woodwind and percussion instruments.
The Beta 98H/C comes with a click-into-place windshield, a case, a gooseneck angle brace, and a cable holder. The preamplifier can be operated via any 11 – 52 V phantom power source, or via the battery powered MX1BP preamplifier when no phantom power is available.
