This is a single germanium full range booster, co-produced by famous Grammy Award winning producer-writer-guitarist, John Shanks. Based on the Dallas Rangemaster, used by big names like Brian May, Eric Clapton, Richie Blackmore, and Tony Iommi, we put in some tweaks with the advice of John which then added a Sola Sound Tone Bender Professional mkII vibe, which Jimmy Page used to rock in Led Zeppelin, giving Shanks a hybrid characteristic.
For the sound, we used difficult to find vintage hand picked N.O.S condensers. For the power outlet, we use state of the art tech which allows that great tone with a noiseless boost and wide head room.
On top of that, the Bass knob allows to create a full range boost. From a clean sparkle to a crunch to a full boost, can also drive like a Tonebender.
John Shanks
John Shanks, born 1964, December 18th in New York is most known recently for producing the new Van Halen album “A different kind of Truth”. He has also worked with artists such as Bon Jovi, Sherryl Crow, Keith Urban, Michelle Branch, Bob Dylan, Steven Tyler, Rod Stuart, Santana, Sting, etc…
He personally owns a collection of musical instruments and gear, from vintage to new. He especially collects guitar gear probably to an extent that there is nothing that he does not have. His ability to use these collections through his job is what has helped him become a Grammy winning producer.
When we visited the Jim Henson studio and his home studio, it was filled with vintage gear(Guitars, Amps, Pedals, etc.). Recently his 60’ Les Paul given to him by Mick Mars was used as the model for the Gibson Collector’s Choice#7 1960 Les Paul “Shanks”. The original 60’ Les Paul was used in the production of the Shanks 3K among many other vintage gear.
