Vintage V58JD ReIssued Jerry Donahue, Ash Blonde
Hailed by Danny Gatton as ‘the string bending King of the Planet’ Jerry Donahue’s intimidating guitar technique requires an instrument capable of accommodating his herculean fretboard heroics. The V58JD is the result of Vintage’s extensive work with Jerry to produce an instrument to his specifications; single coil pickups custom wound to Jerry’s exact recipe, and custom wired five-way switch circuitry being just two of the features unique to this highly versatile guitar.
The classically shaped American Alder body feels tight and comfortable whilst also providing excellent resonance, tone and ‘correct weight’ comfort, which is further enhanced by the incredibly positive feeling one piece Hard Maple neck. A traditional 7.25″ radius Maple fingerboard with 22 Medium profile frets further adds to the guitar’s speed, accuracy and excellent playability.
Pickups are two Custom Designed Wilkinson® WJTD Single Coils; wound to Jerry’s specifications, these pickups feature Alnico II magnets for a smooth tone with just a touch of warmth. The Single master Volume and Tone controls are as standard for this classic design, but with the addition of the Donohue type custom wired five-way switch circuitry, this guitar becomes capable of far more sonic flavours and tones than those we’ve come to love and expect from such a guitar.
