DSM Humboldt Electronic’s Simplifier Classic is a huge hit among guitarists at Sweetwater — so their excitement was no surprise when the Simplifier mk2 was announced. Jam-packed with the same amp, power amp, and cab simulations as well as a bevy of new controls, the Simplifier mk2 brings the same meaty tone to any pedalboard with much less hassle. Three excellent preamps include AC BRIT, American, and MS Brit characteristics without the need of any additional hardware. These particular sounds are best paired with the mk2’s dedicated power amp drive, which offers even more fine-tuning with an upgraded power type switch and linear through distortion drive knob. Similarly, the Simplifier’s stereo cab sim combines combo, twin, and stack selection with color selection options to deliver independent cab voicings for the left and right channels. Best of all, DSM Humboldt made sure to include adjustable plate reverb to add the perfect amount of room control to your setup for complete authenticity. A trio of redesigned preamp engines
If you’re familiar with the OG Simplifier model, there’s no surprises here. The Simplifier mk2 hosts three separate preamp options and a 3-band EQ to ensure top-notch voicing for any scenario.
- AC Brit: A sweet, sparkling voicing based on a British icon known for its twinkling cleans and emotive verge-of-breakup grind.
- American: Supplies the quacky midrange and chunky bass of black-panel Deluxe. Sweet when clean, roars when pushed.
- MS Brit: Packs on the glassy gain and forward character of a Plexiglas-paneled vintage amp stack.
Power amp simulation control
Tonal possibilities on the Simplifier mk2 don’t stop at the preamp. An onboard power amp allows you to dial in the perfect amount of compression and stiffness. The power type switch provides reconfigurations to your feedback path, PI gain, and power transformer effect to get the most out of your tube-emulated tone. The helpful clip indicator will also ensure you’re kept aware of any clipping issues, making it even easier to find the sound you’re looking for without unnecessary noise.
Enhanced stereo cab sim control
The Simplifier mk2’s Combo, Twin, and Stack cab simulation controls are an excellent way to add a tight boost to your final sound. The OG Simplifier’s MIC position control has been replaced with a Speaker control (Black, Blue, Green) based on the V30 speaker, Blue Alnico speaker, and the G12 Greenback speaker, respectively. Additionally, three separate classic cab types are available in combo, twin, and stack configurations so you’re ready to hit any venue with confidence.
Built-in digital reverb
Fans asked, and DSM Humboldt Electronics delivered. A dedicated reverb knob along the Simplifier mk2’s return connections provides crisp side-chained digital plate reverb to administer impressive width and a touch of room to your instrument’s tone.
Stereo direct amp pass-through
Let’s say you want to run direct to the soundboard but still monitor yourself through cabs. Or, maybe you just want to monitor from your pedalboard and mic up cabs from the stage. The DSM & Humboldt Simplifier mk2 is able to pass your stereo effects pedals directly onto your powered stage amps to provide a rich, stereo spread.
Auxiliary input
Practicing along to jam tracks? Monitoring MultiTracks in your in-ears? The Simplifier mk2’s auxiliary input lets you live monitor songs from your music library and audio from your DAW while you play, saving the need for a dedicated in-ear system.
